Type Specimen
Task: Accordion Fold Booklet, Create a type specimen booklet inspired by the early 20th century art movement, Dadaism, using the typeface, Caslon Pro.
Result: In the spirit of Dadaism, I rejected normal conventions like balance, symmetry, alignment, and hierarchy, in favor of a more irrational approach. I used contrasting sizes, colors, and a variety of glyphs and letterforms to illustrate the overall characteristics of the typeface.
Tools: Adobe InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop
The text I used was from a short book titled, Words out of Silence: 60 Days in Solitude, by Bok, 2014.
Dada or Dadaism was an art movement of the European avant-garde with early centers in Zürich, Switzerland, and New York. The Dada movement consisted of artists who rejected the logic, reason, and aestheticism of modern capitalist society, instead expressing nonsense, irrationality, and anti-bourgeois protest in their works.
