Little Dream House Coloring Contest 2010 Results:

Thank you for entering the Little Dream House Coloring Contest. Over 220 people sent entries including students from Chaffey High School, John Adams Middle School, Junction City Arts Council, and Sherman Oaks Elementary School. There were many colorful, creative, and inspiring ideas: from scenes of alien abductions to cows jumping over the moon. This made my decision making far more challenging than I expected, so I needed an extra day to come up with the winner. And the winner is…Ellison from Los Angeles, CA! Ellison’s entry most inspired me because it depicts how interconnected we all are, how important community is, and how we each create our own reality. Please see the completed winning painting below:

Thank you again for your creativity and support. I hope you will enter again next year.

Have a great day!

The Coloring Contest Inspiration:

About a year ago, I handed Cate (age 6) a small canvas and a pencil. She wanted to help me paint my landscapes. So, I asked her to outline some trees along a horizon line that I had drawn on a blank canvas. When she finished, she handed back a beautiful creation. Not only had she drawn crooked little trees, but she also added a couple of crooked houses between them. I was inspired! I painted her creation, and since then I have created over 100 “Little House” paintings. Each one is unique. I have done a variety of colors and textures, sunrises, sunsets, windy days, and night times - see my Landscape page for examples. For Cate’s birthday last year, I painted a full moon above a little house with a howling dog. She said this was her favorite and it is hanging by her bed in her room.

PLEASE JOIN ME AGAIN NEXT YEAR!! 2011

“My wish is that my artwork will help others open their hearts. I make each piece with the intention that it will find a home where it will inspire and uplift; create peace, balance, harmony, and happiness. Through my art, I hope to contribute to the expansion of love and awareness on our planet.” – Joel Robert Harris 2010
